Yesterday I drove out to the Columbia Gorge and did a 9 mile loop hike to Wahkeena Falls, Devil's Rest, and Multnomah Falls. There were actually quite a few more falls than this, making it one of the most scenic hikes I've done. The out and back up to Devil's Rest wasn't anything special (there is no view at the top), but there was a fantastic overlook just below the highest point, with a great wide-angle view of the gorge.
I started around 10am at Wahkeena Falls, and there were very few people on the Wahkeena Falls trail. I didn't see anyone else on the out/back to Devil's Rest. But by the time I got back on the main trail to Multnomah Falls, the crowds had moved in and it was actually hard to get by in some spots. I had to wait several times for large groups of people to pass by. Zoe did great with all the people. In the past she would try to run and get away from everyone, but this time she seemed at ease and even let all the little kids pet her as they passed. If I did this hike again I would start at Multnomah Falls so I could avoid the big crowds in the afternoon.
