Bike Tour Day 1 The Dalles

We had an awesome ride today. Doug's teammates escorted us out of town this morning to the first rest stop. That was very cool of them.

We rode with a few people during the day, but mostly we rode by ourselves. We were cracking jokes the whole day but I think people are still easing into "tour time" and so weren't laughing too much. Hopefully they'll relax over the next couple of days. We're going to try to get Lon laughing as he is such a tour czar and nothing seems to humor him. We thought about going up to Timberline Lodge but couldn't get anyone to actually go with us so didn't.

There were tons of orange and black butterflies on Mt. Hood. They were flying into us and making the ride very enjoyable. Doug swallow some sort of bug and spent about 15 minutes coughing it back up. I was concerned at first but then saw he was ok and so started laughing hysterically. He just kept coughing and grunting, it was so funny. As we came into The Dalles we stopped at a fruit stand and when we told the ladies we were riding to Georgia, the state, they decided to give us free cherries. Score!

We had dinner at Cousins which totally reminded me of my cousins from the farm. There was even a John Deere tractor in the dining room. I had meatloaf which was really tasty and then a milkshake, which put my stomach over the edge and now I'm considering skipping breakfast. Ugh.

I tried the Heed drink, it's ok but it's mostly Maltodextrin when doesn't work super great for me. It seems to upset my stomach a bit. I'll use the rest of my drink mix and then see what happens. Overall this tour is super organized and we're well taken care of. I'm very pleased with the support and would definitely do another one of the their events.

Poor bug eating Doug. I like how you first made sure he was okay before bursting into laughter.
