Bike Tour Day 10 Rangely

I totally felt like crap today. It could have been the two beers I had last night, or that and the incredibly hard ride yesterday. Anyway, I seriously thought last night about bagging it in Walsenburg, and maybe even sagging one of the days coming up. We got a paid-for breakfast at the hotel restaurant and I had a big glass of O.J. but that just made me feel nauseous. I ate some oatmeal and that was it.

We started off really slow and at the first stop I took the Anti-Fatigue caplets. They seemed to work somewhat as I was able to go a little faster without feeling completely horrible. It got really hot later but once in Rangely we sat in the park in the shade and had lunch, and then went to a nice coffee shop and had an iced coffee. It was nice sitting there with everyone and just chatting, with no rush to go anywhere. Apparently there were a lot of prairie dogs to see, and elk. Unfortunately because I was feeling so under the weather I missed seeing everything but the road in front of me.

I think the next bike tour I sign up for will be one with shorter days. I miss just being able to hang out with people and take things a bit slower. I have realized finally, that this trip is not a vacation, it's more like a job with a very regimented schedule. Had I really realized this beforehand I probably would not have signed up. : ( So I am just trying to take advantage of this "rest day" and get my energy reserves back up, and then to just take it one rest stop at a time.

"Anti-Fatigue caplets"?

I'm afraid to ask what's in them. Don't get yourself arrested.

That's funny. The tour organizer have this big bin of bottles and powders, and you just take whatever you like at each stop. It seems to help, at least it gets you to the next stop without cramping or falling off your bike from exhaustion. :) BTW, it's all Hammer nutrition so it can't be all bad...
